In-Fashion: Going, Going, Gone!

"In fashion" has been one of those things throughout history that has never stayed the same. Nor is fashion the same in other places in the world, or in different parts of the country for that matter. How is it that the definition of "fashion" changes? Who changes it? And what is it that makes them change it?

We've all seen lots of pictures and movies from the 1970's and 1980's and can see that fashion has changed incredibly since then (although there are still the select few from all over that refuse to admit that those days are dead, and that we've moved on).

Then there are those other people who just dress differently and we don't know where their ideas ever came from. I, for one, find their ideas to be quite interesting and refreshing towards the whole fashion "statement."

Who changes fashion anyway? I've often wondered that. You're dressing almost the exact same way as the models in the catalogues and in pictures around the store. And then all of a sudden, you look around and everything is different than what you're wearing. How is it that our fashion changes so suddenly, or so gradually, that we never really noticed?

Who is it that starts the trends in ours schools and on the streets. Is it the popular people in the school? Or is it just an entire body of people who all seem to catch on to the new fashion at the same time? Maybe it is a group of daring people in society who just decide that they are going to
make a statement and try something new. We may never know for sure.

And then there's the question of why people want to change what's "in fashion"? If you were to ask me, I would say that the clothing companies are doing it on their own. They just find a way to change the style of clothing to make it more appealing to customers. They find a way to set a
new trend that will quickly spread around and make more money.

To make things even more complicated, we have to worry about haircuts, glasses, make-up, facial hair, etc. Most people that you see do not really ever change these things. Their hair styles never really change, and if they wear glasses, make-up, or grow facial hair, those usually do not change either. Those are things that people just decide that they're happy with because they're either much too used to it and don't want to change or they continue to think that they're still in style.

We may all think that the latest fashion is great and we don't really want anything else right now. Yet we may all change our minds as soon as someone comes up with another creative idea.

However, if you don't wish to change, don't worry. As far as you're concerned, you may be the one in fashion; it's everyone else who's out of fashion.
