Have you ever been walking down the street and get stopped
by some weird old person asking if you want to repent for your
sins, and no matter what you do or say they won't leave you alone?
You really only have two choices in a situation like that, say
yes or RUN, because if you don't I can guarantee that you are
going to be there for a long time arguing. It's like this cute,
and maybe a little creepy, old person transforms into a pious
raging psychopath.
The question is however, why are these people acting this
way? What is pushing these little old people to waste valuable
time and energy trying to make us "sinners" repent?
The answer is pretty much simple, Y2K. Over the past couple of
years people have been running around like chickens with their
heads cut off, screaming that the world is going to end, or that
the Lord is coming to save us; that is if you repent. Organizations
are popping up everywhere with lines like "God has a plan
for your life . . ." and "Have You Been Born Again?",
each recruiting old people (primarily ex-alcoholics and the homeless)
by telling them that they are messengers of God, sent to bring
back man into "the family of God," and sending each
one out to push not religion, but God. Each one clearly stating
that in the year 2000 God will appear and take all those who
have repented their sins to Heaven, leaving the rest on earth
to burn with the Devil.
To some of you it might just sound like a bunch of bull from
a senile old person who seriously needs a hobby, but I personally
think that it's a little creepy. Here are these old people wandering
the streets and hanging around schools, stopping students on
the side walks and basically harassing them until they either
run away or agree to be repented, and even then they still may
not go away. I do not believe that anyone has the right to push
something as controversially as religion and God upon another
person. If anything I find that these people are turning students
from religion and God. If I ever needed a reason to become a
Satanist or an Atheist, being harassed by a pious old man would
be a good reason for me. |
