JuanesUn Dí a Normal
Juanes
2002

This CD sure makes normal sound good! If you're looking for something special in today's music, you won't be disappointed here. This CD gives you a real taste of culture that will leave you wanting more.

Juanes is a talented guitarist and vocalist from Colombia. His first album, Fijate, was published in 2000. Un dí a Normal is his second album, published only this year, has already become very popular and successful.

He has a unique musical style that blends folk, pop, Colombian and Latin rock music, along with a little rhythm and blues.

The diverse and fun style of this 12-track recording is part of what makes it so high in quality. Even someone that doesn't know Spanish will thoroughly enjoy himself or herself listening to this album.

Great lyrics in all the songs have a certain depth and meaning to them provoking thought and causing them to get stuck in your head all day long. Such as the line " y de nuevo siento enfermo es de corazon, y yo no tengo remedio má s que amarte" (Nelly Furtado's solo on track 9) that so often remains in my head for days at a time. These lines are often well sung, intimate and are often about love, life and humanity.

The instruments, which include drums and guitar, featuring string instruments and the piano are well blended and harmonized. They don't over bear each other or the vocals. There's usually just the right amount of volume and intensity of the instruments, which is very effective. In the duet with Nelly on track 9 their voices mingle in harmony brilliantly.

This CD will get you dancing, get you singing and get you listening intently. It will even inspire you to learn a new language. It's different, it's fun and it's worth it.
